Get Rid of UK Duty Petition
One of the major gripes about being a Whisky Drinker in the UK is the amount of duty we have to cough up . There has been an online petition started up to Abolish the duty , it may not happen but at least it will let the Government know we're not happy about it ! So if you reside in the UK click the link below and sign it ! (closing date 9th August 2007)

Almost There.....
The Third Installment (ok Fourth if you include the "For Committee Approval....") of the Glenmorangie Distilled Ardbeg , the "Almost There ..... ", is Almost Here ! This will be a 9yo , the last one before the Brand Spanking new 10yo . I have been informed the plan is to have it bottled and in the shops (UK i would have thought....) for the first week of April . Price will be the same as the "Still Young" at £29.99 a bottle .
Tasting notes to follow .....
Bladnoch Forum 1971 35yo Invergordon
Dist - June 1971 , Bottled Jan 2007
ABV - 52.1% , 1 of 65 Bottles , Cask No.52392
Raymond has scored again in his cask purchases , a lovely dram ,polished Bronze in colour , it has Vanilla , Coconut and a slight fruitiness on the nose but also a creaminess to it . On the palate there is a dark treacle taste but it is creamy again , also spices . The finish is long and vanilla almost like an ice cream cone . This is a cracking dram , almost up to the same class of the 1965 38yo Peerless bottling of 2004 .
Keep up the good work Raymond !
Bits and Pieces
Rumours abound on the net that the next installment of the Ardbeg "Youngs" will be released next month at the Belgium Whiskylive , "Almost There..." will be the last one before we get the Glenmorangie Distilled 10yo .
Managed to get our summer holiday accommodation booked up , once more onto Islay my friend.....Just for a change !
things seem pretty quiet whisky wise at the moment , the calm before the storm ?
