I've been looking into the price of printing my own labels and so far the only company to give me a quote has been Mercian Labels (www.selfadhesivelabels.com ) , at £74 + vat and P&P , it wasn't a cost i could justify for 100 labels (though from the wording of their e-mail i think it would cover the cost of up to a 1000 labels ...... Probably one to bear in mind for the Geordie Laddie / Spirit of Islay casks) , so seeing i've just bought a new printer it's time to revert to Raymonds original plan ..... Print them myself ! Keeps costs down , just a small allowance for paper and ink tanks .
the Actual bottling ......
One of the questions everyone asks is "How many bottles will you get ?" , it's one of the questions i asked ! The distillery said a couple of Bloodtubs have been bottled but they couldn't remember the outturn , so going off industry standards that the casks loss between 2-2.5% a year to those pesky little angels we can do the following calculations-
Original fill - 32 Litres
loss per year - 0.64 litre (@2%) 0.8 litre (@2.5%)
Loss for Period of maturation (x 4 years) - 2.56 Litres (@2%) 3.2 litres (@2.5%)
Expected outturn after "Angels Share" (@2%) - 32 minus 2.56 divided by 0.7 = 42 Bottles
Expected outturn after "Angels Share" (@2.5%)- 32 minus 3.2 divided by 0.7 = 41 Bottles
So hopefully at least 40 bottles if all things run true...which they usually don't !!!
